CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The former Pier 1 storefront on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard has found a new occupant: Popshelf, which is Dollar General’s new concept retail store.

The stores were announced today, but the location in Clarksville is already being built out and developed. Lighting and storage are fixtures going in by the end of today.

Two Popshelf retail stores are planned: one in Clarksville, and the other in Hendersonville. Other locations around the country are coming, but Clarksville will be one of the first.
The store has a boutique feel, and will be segmented into different sections based on item categories.

“Popshelf’s mission is to make every day special by providing shoppers a stress-free shopping destination for everyday items and those special things that make living better,” a Dollar General news release said.
“With most items priced under $5, in addition to a complement of extreme value items priced above $5, we make it easy for consumers to stay within their budget while treating themselves at the same time,” the release continued.

Popshelf will offer a selection of seasonal items, houseware, home décor and beauty products among other items. Its target demographic consists primarily of women from diverse suburban communities with a total household annual income ranging from $50,000 to $125,000.
Clarksville’s Popshelf is expected to open Oct. 29, and is currently hiring for store team members.
